The Challenge
The Indian Bath & Shower Products market is a highly saturated USD 2.92 Billion industry dominated by legacy soap brands. Dolphin Branding undertook a concept study to launch ‘Dew Aura’, a premium bodywash brand. The primary challenge was to break through the noise of mass-market hygiene products and appeal to quality-conscious women aged 16-40. The goal was to communicate a ‘full-day freshness’ promise that felt both healthy and luxurious.
Market Insights
Our research into the Indian cosmetics landscape revealed that the premium segment is growing at a CAGR of 7.79%, driven by urban consumers in hubs like Pune. Specifically, 84% of Indian consumers are now willing to pay a premium for high-quality, effective products. Psychological profiling showed that women in the 21-40 age bracket prioritize ‘fragrance’ and ‘suitability to skin’ above price. The ‘Aha!’ moment during our discovery phase was realizing that while competitors sold ‘cleanliness’, our target audience craved the emotional state of ‘Morning Freshness’—the feeling of a dew-kissed dawn that they wished to retain throughout their busy day.
The Strategic Solution
We positioned ‘Dew Aura’ as more than a cleanser—it was an ‘Aura of Freshness’. The brand’s voice was defined by luxury and confidence. The core concept centred on the ‘Freshness of Morning Dew’, aligning every brand touchpoint with the promise of rejuvenation and purity.
Design & Execution
Visual Identity: We utilized calligraphic and serif typography to signal a premium, experience. Bright, vibrant colours were chosen for the labels to symbolize high-energy freshness.
Packaging: A modern pump dispenser was selected for convenience and hygiene. Transparent bottles were used to showcase the product’s natural colours. Each aroma —Tangy Citrus, Lavender, and Aloe Magic—featured artisanal labels with realistic imagery of the core botanical ingredients. A golden border on a pastel text area served as the visual anchor across the entire product line.
Campaign Strategy: The Digital campaign targeted social media platforms, positioning Dew Aura as an inalienable part of a woman’s daily self-care collection and to reiterate the message of all-day freshness. The Print campaign utilized OOH (Out-of-Home) and newspaper adverts to convey the message of quality, purity and freshness.
The Results
Strong stakeholder feedback on the ‘artisanal’ feel of the labels and the premium hand-feel of the pump dispensers. The brand successfully carved out a niche as an ‘aspirational’ daily essential.
